My lovely son turns 27 this Tuesday and I have racked my brain thinking about a gift for him. I can't believe 27 years has gone so very fast and he is a grown man. I wanted to give him something different, something special instead of the usual wrapped present so I thought I would give him my thoughts to keep. This is for you Evan

She lays exhausted, trembling but in awe
glancing sideways
an angry little face and outstretched fingers
trying to feel this strange new place
he is the newest addition to the world
27 years ago
She thinks "five minutes ago I was one,
now I am two"
this little man who lived in me who now lays beside me
angry at his eviction he screams and protests
and she smiles at his tantrum
27 years ago
"There is parts of me in this tiny child", she thinks
How magnificent is this creation
How unforgettable a moment in her life
As he quietens and looks around
At his new world
27 years ago
