A WOMANS WORTH
Horror of horror's, my computer blew up !!! It will be a little while before I can buy another one but I will post my little offerings whenever I can. So here is today's little installment.
These are the lyrics to one of my favourite songs "WOMAN" By Neneh Cherry. I think this song should be taught to every young woman as they are growing up.
You gotta be fortunate
You gotta be lucky now
I was just sitting here
Thinking good and bad
But Im the kinda woman
That was built to last
They tried erasing me
But they couldnt wipe out my past
To save my child
Id rather go hungry
I got all of ethiopia
Inside of me
And my blood flows
Through every man
In this godless land
That delivered me
Ive cried so many tears even the blind can see
Chorus:
This is a womans world.
This is my world.
This is a womans world
For this mans girl.
There aint a woman in this world,
Not a woman or a little girl,
That cant deliver love
In a mans world.
Ive born and Ive bread.
Ive cleaned and Ive fed.
And for my healing wits
Ive been called a witch.
Ive crackled in the fire
And been called a liar.
Ive died so many times
Im only just coming to life.
Chorus:
This is a womans world.
This is my world.
This is a womans world
For this mans girl.
There aint a woman in this world,
Not a woman or a little girl,
That cant deliver love
In a mans world.
My blood flows
Through every man and every child
In this godless land
That delivered me
I cried so many tears even the blind can see
We started to make some inroads into showing young girls why being a woman is important and that we have so many important qualities and it seems for some reason this generation have slipped backwards. It may be because they are bombarded with images of deadhead, sexcrazed nobodies (i.e. Paris Hilton), but for some reason a lot of them seem to think blonde hair and lowrider jeans are more important than intelligence. Looks have become the most important quality a person can possess and a career as a airhead celebrity without any talent is the biggest aspiration in life they have.
I love the picture below that I found on the internet. It represents so much about being female. The beauty of creation that we possess along with strength and wisdom. Don't get me wrong, I like men but I think the attitude that they are superiour and we should be kept in our place still exists.
So it's up to our young girl's to prove this wrong, but unless they stop adoring ridiculous examples of womanhood this is just not going to happen.
So show your daughter's this song, get them to read the lyrics and tell them to be proud of who they are.

Fantastic song and lyrics. I love Neneh's zest.
That's awful about your computer, hope it's not too long until you get another one.
