AND WHEN I DIE
April 11th 2008 04:47
While looking up some information today I came across some of the most fascinating and funny facts about a subject we like to avoid......DEATH. The more I read the more interesting it became, (but then again I am a bit strange) and there was far too much to include here. Among the things I looked at was a few articles on coffins! Did you know that there is a Museum of Coffins, only in the good old U.S.A. of course, among the exhibitions were these lovely little numbers
Yes it's the funeral bus from 1916, big enough to have your last party with room for twenty party pals inside........what fun
Or you might like this fantastic body box
The glass coffin made from green tinted glass, if you look like Snow White it would be perfect for you
Or maybe the alarm coffin
fully fitted out with an alarm to wake you up just in case there has been a terrible mistake.
And then we have the really strange and wonderful from different parts of the world. I was really intrigued by this picture of the hanging coffins in the Phillipines
Can't think of a better way to spend a holiday then looking at coffins on the side of a mountain, can you?
From ancient India we then had The towers of silence where the body was placed on top for the vultures to pick clean
A bit of a twist on sunbaking I believe.
If you had a compulsive personality you could always make your coffin a tribute to your addiction like this nifty piece of work from Ghana
And if you get a bit claustrophobic at the thought of six feet under there's always Ethopia where they throw you in a tree
For the little woman who was always house proud we have the window seat coffin. Pretty practical, you use it as a beautiful piece of furniture when your alive and it saves money on a coffin when you snuff it.
Last of all comes the latest in death technology, the computer coffin, why not catch up on all your email while your lying there, after all there's not much else to when your laid out in a coffin is there?

You missed out on the marvellous coffins made in Thailand and environs, mercedes cars, mobile phones, and some beautifully artistic creations too.

P.S. A coffin with a line attached to a bell, on the grave's surface was also invented, at the turn of the last century I believe...just in case!
Why not one with a cyber link to the internet, complete with light? Then your loved ones could keep a watch on you...shudder...someome may just do that one day!
