I decided to finally go through a huge collection of my music today and sort it all out. It has taken all day but I have had a wonderful time all on my own listening to it all. I found a lot of cd’s I had burned and never labeled so I played them all to see what was on them and of course couldn’t bear to throw any of them away! So I am still left with a rather large collection that I can’t bear to part with. I would rather give away my furniture.
And In amongst all this stuff I found a treasure. I put the cd with no labels in the player sat down to listen and out into my room floated a true thing of beauty. My boy’s voice. It was a few songs he had recorded and also played piano on and given to me a couple of years ago. I turned up the volume and sucked it in. Everybody in the world like to think then when they die they will be remembered or they leave their mark, and he is my great project. I am so proud of him.
Of all the things he could have inherited (apart from being mental like his mother) I am delighted that music seems like it ran out of me and into him. He grew up with a mother who couldn’t give him much except singing lessons and always being there to support him and he has achieved a lot.
Evan loves his piano, but I couldn’t afford lessons for that as well as the singing so he taught himself, and he plays beautifully. He writes heartfelt songs and wonderful music and never had the arrogance of other singers we have met along the way. I am so glad he will never be a businessman in a suit, it would have horrified me because I know that too many people stray from what they really are and always regret it.
And so I thought I would share his gorgeous voice with you all and maybe it will soothe you, make you happy, make you sad or just make you feel. So here are four of the songs I found today and it’s my gift to you all. Enjoy !!!
