I BELIEVE IN FARIES

Last night I sat down and indulged in a bit of fluff, Dancing With The Stars. As you may have witnessed for yourself the whole cast, the judges, the hosts and even the musical director did a takeoff of the wedding dance that has swept the internet over the last week. It was corny, silly, ameurtrish and a whole lot of fun. I smiled the whole way through it and I thought "why can't we have more silliness like this, more joy and more fun?".
I'm bored with violence,I I'm bored with bad language, I'm bored with murders, terrorists, bad behaviour and all the dark stuff in life that is shoved into our faces every day.
I would love little girls to watch Pollyanna instead of Brittany Spears. Why does everyone want them to grow up so fast? I can't think of anything more delightful than 6 and 7 year olds still thinking there are fairies in the garden and wanting a dress like Cinderella instead of low riders and a crop top.
It takes a brave adult nowadays to admit they would rather watch a dance show than the yobbo's playing football. It would take a very brave teenager to admit that they are to young for alcohol and sex, that just wouldn't be cool.
And I guess I must be a real dork because I would rather listen to a radio station that just plays music instead of a pair of celebrities playing jokes and humiliating someone as in the case of Kyle and Jackie.
I wonder what a talent show like Idol would be like if it was actually about the singing and not about the "image" and making young girls look cheap to sell Cd's..........probably wouldn't rate.
How about religious leaders that have their own TV shows. I guess it would be too much to expect that the preachers in their expensive suits and collecting millions from their followers to pay for their tacky churches and lifestyles, would ever realise that their job is actually about spreading love and compassion. Wouldn't that be a hoot?.
I want nice back. I am going to try as hard as I can to make life about make believe, fairytales and santa for my little nieces for as long as possible. They deserve their childhood and we deserve to feel unashamed about being nice, about finding joy in silly things and wanting a bit of innocence back.
