We have yet another controversy in Australia at the moment with yet another football idenity bahaving badly. Nothing unusual in Austalia, it is becoming a weekly occurance among the footballers here. But this scandal is more disgusting than usual and has exposed (for me at least) the total double standards and yobbo mentality of Australian men.
In 2002 while in New Zealand for a match an some members of the Australian team had group sex with a 19 year old woman. The woman was interviewed on TV last week and seemed very distressed and ashamed of what had happened. Apparently it was consensual but years later the damage this incident has done was very apparent. For some reason she only named one of the players among the ones that had sex with her and it was a very well known TV personality Matthew Johns.
There were others invovled, he is not alone in this, but he won't name the other footballers and they have not come forward, so he has shouldered the fallout from this. He has lost his TV job and last night he and his wife were interviewed on TV. It was uncomortable and painful to watch, and you could see the devastation on his face because this filthy incident had become public knowledge.
All the fans and all his TV mates have come forward, some crying believe it or not, and defended him as a fantastic bloke and not deserving of all this. Meanwhile the girl who was 19 at the time has been vilified and spoken about as a slut, as deserving it because it was consensual and as a liar. My issue is this.............
Why is it okay for a room full of men,.....any men footballers or not...........to treat a woman like she is just a hole in the wall, get thier rocks off and then slap each other on the back after they have had thier jollies but the woman is the slut?
Why are they not sluts? I do not approve of her behaviour at all, but their behaviour is worse. This boys will be boys attitude sucks. Should all women keep themselves nice and virginial while men have sex whenever the opportunity arises?
I wonder how these blokes would feel if it was thier daughter laying there naked letting men use them like this. It is alright for all Matthew John's mates to say he is a wonderful bloke but why can't they understand the actual incident was wrong? What about the wives of these footballers that have been betrayed? Do we teach our boys that these men are heroes and endorse the idea that once your well known you can behave any way you want to? It is NOT okay to have double standards. It's not okay to have group sex with a nineteen year old and then the public moans that he is being crucified because after all "boys will be boys" but label the woman a hoare and a slut for doing the same thing.
I stopped watching football a few years ago because I was so disgusted by thier yobbo behaviour, there are so many incidents of drunkedness, assault, and general anti social behaviour it just wasn't about the sport anymore. I don't want any of the boys in my family looking up to thier pathetic examples of what a man behaves like.
I am not endorsing the morals of the young girl involved but men need to wake up to themselves and stop thinking that if you have a penis you are entilted to do what women should not.

i dont understand how men can find those scenarios such a turn on, would you want all your mates watching you be there sixth person to fuck some poor petrified (often drunk or drugged) girl . . . seems very animalistic . . . actually even animals dont act like that
