Music is a language we all understand. It can lift you, depress you, make you think or just create an atmoshpere when needed. I'm sure everyone of you also has a favourite song, but what are the songs or song that really make you emotional? I was listening to a beautiful song the other day from Les Miserables and as soon as I hear the first note it brings tears to my eyes. Have you got a song that affects you like this?
The song is really a prayer from a father asking god to bring his boy safely home from war and I think one of the best in a show full of great songs.
And then I have another favourite by the late great Dusty Springfield called Going Back. I don't know why it makes me feel sad, maybe because it's about lost friends and chances in youth.
I wonder how many people have heard the song called Strange Fruit by Billy Holliday, and if so have you ever listened to the lyrics? One of the saddest songs I have ever heard about the way black people were treated in America and the brutality they endured. This song really tells a story.
